Jaymey McIvor is a life-long Essex resident, having grown up in Ongar Rural where he lived in Toot Hill and now residing in Beauchamp Roding. Jaymey attended Moreton Primary school before going to St Johns School where he served as Head Boy. Moving onto Sixth Form at the Anglo European International School just outside the Ongar Rural division.
During his school years, Jaymey was an ambassador for Young People in his community, from serving on the Epping Forest Youth Council, Young Essex Assembly and the UK Youth Parliament where he delivered a speech in the House of Commons aged just 16. He studied Business and Politics and swapped University for a Career in the travel industry whilst starting his own business which now operates across Essex.
Before starting a career in the airline industry, Jaymey worked for Essex Based Resort Marketing International - famous for being Europe’s Largest Hotel Representation Company. His clients included Caribbean Hoteliers and major UK travel brands such as Virgin Holidays, British Airways and Hays Travel and TUI. Jaymey was awarded “Rising Star of Travel PR” by The Institute of Marketing for his work involving female empowerment in the travel industry and assisting with the recovery of hurricane Irma.
Jaymey’s experience in business and customer services notably makes him keen to help people. He dedicates much of his time to his community, both in Ongar Rural and in North Weald where 2019 saw him elected to Epping Forest District Council aged 20 years old. His passion for his community has been evident from the outset, he now is Vice Chairman of the Community Scrutiny Committee which has had an active roll in the scrutiny of the council's Covid-19 response.
Jaymey still works part time in the travel industry, whilst he spends most of his time working for on his fast-growing flower business. His vision for Ongar Includes a revitalisation of the High Street, a plan for minimising disruption caused by rural flooding and an emphasis on promoting opportunities for young people.
